Women Connect ~ short weekly posts to inspire and encourage.
Yes I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. Wherever they go, they will find green pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness. John 10: 9 & 10
He doesn’t promise us a trouble free life – – – – but He promises green pastures – – – wherever we go.
In season and out of season, fair weather and foul, in sowing or in reaping, in famine or in feast, good times and bad or a mixture of both – He promises us green pastures – along the way, in the eye of the storm, wherever we go.
Green pastures are where we meet with Him. Where its cool and quiet and unrushed. – a place of rest and repose, where theres food for our spirit and drink for our soul and peace for our frazzled brains. A place where we can breathe Him in deep and be put back together. I’m still learning to go there, to take that time.
In all the turmoil and trouble that David encountered in his life he knew God as his shepherd and was able to write “ the Lord is my shepherd: I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul – – -”
We might have to leave our to do list undone for a bit, slacken our white knuckle grip and let our bundle drop. Let the organizing and prioritizing and synchronizing all take second place and just – – – stop and rest and listen to Him. The world won’t fall apart and so what if things come apart at the seams for a little bit. We are in control of much less than we think.
We can do this though. We can trust Him. We can let Him lead and He’s trusting us to follow Him, “My sheep recognize my voice, I know them and they follow me” It can be in the simplest of things that we find good and green pasture, that rest and restoration that comes from His Spirit moving across our spirit.
It might be just five minutes of quiet in amongst the crazy, it might be in a song or in one scripture or in the very early morning silence. Sometimes a desire or a “whim” we might dismiss as a waste of time can be Him leading us to a quiet place too. Find yourself staring at the ocean a lot – maybe He wants to meet with you there, cant stop taking photos of beautiful sunsets – maybe He’s there, is there a garden you cant help but sit in, a song you can’t shake from your head, a quiet spot you keep returning to or a picture you’ve got a hankering to paint – whatever it is maybe God wants to meet with you there – maybe He to ease your burden, soothe your mind, give comfort, make good and breathe His life in.
Just maybe.
Love to you all today
